Using Video Marketing to Promote your Lingerie Business

Have you noticed that web video seems to be taking over the internet? Everywhere you look every other website has video: someone demonstrating something, showing off a product, a general welcome to the website, embedded you tube videos of other people, a video blog of what someone did this morning.

Even this lingerie blog has embedded you tube videos showcasing lingerie fashion shows. Video adds a 3-dimensional quality to a predominantly one dimensional medium.

The trend to video as a marketing medium is actually pretty exciting. So much so that I went on the hunt to see if there were any lingerie boutiques that used video in their marketing.

Unfortunately...I didn't find many. (I've included a few boutiques below using video in ways that I thought were promising.)

Because making web videos may be new to many business owners and something that doesn't come naturally to most people, there is indeed a learning curve. But the fun is in the experimentation!

There are many ways video can be used to market and promote your lingerie business:

1. Tour your store
2. Show off new merchandise
3. Vlog your daily activities in the store
4. Film customer testimonials
5. Give lingerie tips (how about bra fitting tips, or how to choose the perfect color lingerie for your skin tone)

The list is endless.

Now you're probably wondering, what type of video camera is best for vlogging or marketing my business? Well, here is a pretty good website that gives reviews on vlogging cameras: Best Video Cameras

And here are the few videos I found of lingerie boutiques using video in a variety of ways to market their shop.

How To Buy For Your New Lingerie Retail Store

A quick guide by Mercedes Gonzalez in narrowing down the types of product you might want to sell in your store.

One thing I left out about "if you can carry the product" are the minimums the brand might ask you to buy. One high end lingerie company won't sell to you unless you can buy $10k a season....which to many boutiques is half their budget.

Don't let the brands bully you. You know what sells and what won't in your store better than anyone.

Before you open your store it's a good idea to be able to visit a trade show, not only to see what products and price points are out there but to also be inspired.
Keep in mind that your store will always be developing and changing. Gap used to only sell Levi jeans and sweatshirts and A&F was an out door camping store.
Don't forget we offer a full day class on Retailing.
